About Ken Siver

Dr. Kenson Siver has been serving as the Mayor of Southfield since 2015. Prior to his election as mayor, Siver spent 14 years as a City Council member. He spent his professional career dedicated to the Southfield School District as a teacher and, later, School Superintendent. He has called Southfield home for 58 years and lives with his husband of 27 years in the Magnolia neighborhood. Mayor Siver considers himself a “Southfield enthusiast.” He’s written three books on Southfield history, serves on the Board of Directors of the Southfield Historical Society, leads tours of Southfield’s Mid-Century Modern Architecture, is he chairs both the Southfield Non-Profit Neighborhood Board and the Friends of Southfield Public Arts, is a founding member of the Southfield Martin Luther King Task Force, and has participated in organizations such as the South Oakland NAACP, the Southfield Parks & Garden Club, and a volunteer for the Southfield Public Schools.
